A series of comparative tests has been performed at the fire technical laboratories in Finland, Norway and Sweden. The tests aimed at achieving data on the thermal characteristics of the horizontal furnaces. The test results indicate that the thermal characteristics of the different furnaces are very similar. The National Testing Institute in Sweden, Department of Chemistry and Fire Technology (SP/KB), has coordinated the tests and prepared the document.

The National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program (NVLAP), established in 1976, is administered by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) formerly the National Bureau of Standards (NBS). NVLAP is a voluntary system for assessing and evaluating testing laboratories and accrediting those found competent to perform specific test methods or types of test methods. Laboratory accreditation programs are established for specified product or service areas in response to requests and demonstrated need. The publication, intended for the NVLAP technical experts who serve as assessors and evaluators, describes general policies and practices of NVLAP assessment and evaluation. The specific technical criteria for assessing and evaluating laboratories are provided elsewhere, in NVLAP Handbooks and checklists for each technical area.

This viewgraph document presents a overview of the Dryden Flight Research Center's facilities. Dryden's mission is to advancing technology and science through flight. The mission elements are: perform flight research and technology integration to revolutionize aviation and pioneer aerospace technology, validate space exploration concepts, conduct airborne remote sensing and science observations, and support operations of the Space Shuttle and the ISS for NASA and the Nation. It reviews some of the recent research projects that Dryden has been involved in, such as autonomous aerial refueling, the"Quiet Spike" demonstration on supersonic F-15, intelligent flight controls, high angle of attack research on blended wing body configuration, and Orion launch abort tests.

This standard establishes essential elements of a Department of Energy (DOE) program for testing HEPA filters to be installed in DOE nuclear facilities or used in DOE-contracted activities. A key element is the testing of HEPA filters for performance at a DOE Filter Test Facility (FTF) prior to installation. Other key elements are (1) providing for a DOE HEPA filter procurement program, and (2) verifying that HEPA filters to be installed in nuclear facilities appear on a Qualified Products List (QPL).

A description is presented of the experimental test facilities involved in the conduct of the LMFBR research and development program. Existing facilities and those under construction or authorized as of October 1975are described. Each profile presents brief descriptions of the overall facility and its test area and data relating to its experimental and testing capability. Introductory material for each section includes site and facility maps and an alphabetical list of the profiles contained in the section. A glossary of acronyms and letter designations in common usage to describe organizations, reactor and test facilities, components, etc. involved in the LMFBR program is included. Alphabetical, organizational, and programmatic indexes are provided as a convenient method of identifying the facilities with their locations and with their principal uses in the LMFBR program.
